Farm Open House Saturday June 15th – 10 to 5
Please join us for a day of fun and education on the farm. We will be hosting Rodale Institute’s Chief Soil Biologist, Dr. Elaine Ingham and her interns as they discuss how to properly make compost, compost extract and compost tea to increase yields and decrease weed pressure.
Formal presentations at 11:00 and 2:00 (each session will last about 1 hour)… come and ask your questions as you review details of soil composition as seen under the microscope.
Their proven compost methods that help build soil structure can be used on any scale and plant. Anything from large farms to backyard gardens, flower beds and lawns. This is something anyone can do and it costs only pennies. Also, Richard from Bear Creek Organics will be here to discuss vermicompost (worm composting).
Please spread the word so we can spread the knowledge!! We will also be baking soft pretzels in our 130 year old brick bake oven, have pick your own strawberries (if mother nature cooperates), live music from 12 to 2pm and various musicians throughout the day, and a local farmers market venue will be available too.
